Indonesia Will Have the Greatest Warship in Asia

Indonesian Ministry of Defence launched a development plan Watchtower Missile Destroyer warship (PKR), Monday (16/08/2010).

In his speech, Defence Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro said, PKR is the first warship to be created and the largest in Indonesia.

"In Asia, only Singapore warship whose power balance with this ship, Malaysia had, but smaller," said Purnomo.

Events held in the Hall was attended Kemenhan TNI Commander General Djoko Santoso, Agus Suhartono KSAL Admiral, Vice-Chairman of the House of Representatives Commission I of TB Hasanuddin, Managing Director of PT PAL Harsusanto, and CEO of PT Damen Hein Van Ameijden.

Ships of war which cost 170 million Euro this has a length of 105 meters and weighs 2400 tons will be financed by the state budget. In workmanship, Kemenhan up with PT PAL Surabaya and PT Damen based in the Netherlands.

"We involve PT Damen Netherlands because most tech devices on this ship from overseas," he explained.

Principally, the government wants to develop domestic industry, which will absorb 1500 workers and influential people from other industries.

"This is our commitment to improve the quality of Indonesian defense equipment," said Purnomo.
